The President of the National Democratic Movement, Peter Townsend, has expressed sadness and outrage on the death of Mr. Jason Forbes, who went to the Spanish Town Hospital on Tuesday afternoon, complaining about stomach pain, but received no treatment and died on Wednesday morning on the hospital floor.
The NDM President is calling on the Minister of Health to order a probe into the incident and for the management of the Spanish Town Hospital to give a full account to the nation, of how a human being, citizen of Jamaica, was treated in such callous, uncaring and inhumane manner which led to the loss of yet another precious life, while in the hands of agents of the State.
According to reports, Mr. Forbes who was lying on the hospital floor, in pain, pleading for assistance from health care workers, from Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning, received no medical assistance, despite frantic efforts from his sister and elderly mother who spent the night with him at the hospital, begging so-called health care workers for his life.
Mr. Townsend said that the government has failed Citizen Jason Forbes and once again failed the people of Jamaica. He wants to know when will the people of Jamaica call a halt to callousness, poor governance and the continued devaluation of human life, in our country.
