The National Democratic Movement (NDM) has hailed the decision of the Supreme Court, in its ruling handed down this morning, regarding the actions of the Leader of the Opposition, Andrew Holness, when he submitted undated resignation letters for at least two JLP Senators to the Governor General in 2013 after the party’s bitter leadership contest.
The NDM hailed the Court’s ruling, that the Opposition Leader’s underhand and unprecedented method, of ending Mr. Arthur Williams’ tenure as a Senator (by tendering his “resignation letter” knowing that he had no actual intention of resigning) as null and void, unlawful, unconstitutional, and contrary to public policy, as a good one and a victory for justice and good order.
The Movement further called upon Mr. Holness to do the honourable thing and resign from the office of Opposition Leader as he has breached the public trust which should be reposed in that office.
